Canvas and Leather Care

Leather and Canvas Product Care

Taking proper care of your NEMALA products ensures their longevity and maintains their natural beauty. Consider these guidelines to keep your NEMALA items looking their best.

CANVAS cleaning:

Dusting and Wiping:

Gently remove dust and dirt from your canvas product using a soft, dry cloth. This prevents particles from settling into the weave and causing discolouration.

Spot Cleaning:

For minor stains or spills on canvas, use a damp, clean cloth to blot the affected area. Avoid rubbing, as it can spread the stain. Allow the canvas to air dry naturally.

Mild Soap Solution:

If the stain persists, mix a small amount of mild soap with lukewarm water to create a gentle soapy water solution. Dip a soft cloth in the solution and wring it out until damp. Gently wipe the stained area, then wipe again with a clean damp cloth to remove soap residue. Dry with a soft, dry cloth.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals:

Do not use harsh chemicals, alcohol, or abrasive cleaners on your canvas items. They can disturb the natural fibers and coloured finish.

Water Exposure:

If your canvas product gets wet, pat it gently with a clean cloth to remove excess moisture. Avoid heat sources and allow it to air dry naturally. Keep the item away from direct sunlight and heat while drying.

LEATHER Cleaning:

Dusting and Wiping:

Gently remove dust and dirt from your leather product using a soft, dry cloth. This prevents particles from settling into the leather pores and causing damage.

Spot Cleaning:

For minor stains or spills, use a damp, clean cloth to blot the affected area. Avoid rubbing, as it can spread the stain. Allow the leather to air dry naturally.

Mild Soap Solution:

If the stain persists, mix a small amount of mild soap with lukewarm water to create a gentle cleaning solution. Dip a soft cloth in the solution and wring it out until damp. Gently wipe the stained area, then wipe again with a clean damp cloth to remove soap residue. Dry with a soft, dry cloth.

Leather Conditioner:

Periodically, apply a leather conditioner to keep the leather soft and prevent drying or cracking. Follow the product’s instructions for application. Apply a small amount to a soft cloth and rub it onto the leather in circular motions. Buff the leather to a soft shine. A good quality un scented hand cream may be used if you prefer or if no leather conditioner is available.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals:

Do not use harsh chemicals, alcohol, or abrasive cleaners on your leather items. They can strip the natural oils and finish, causing irreversible damage.

Water Exposure:

If your leather product gets wet, pat it gently with a clean cloth to remove excess moisture. Avoid heat sources and allow it to air dry naturally. Keep the item away from direct sunlight and heat while drying.

Storage:

Store leather items in a cool, dry place, preferably in a breathable storage bag. Avoid overcrowding to maintain the shape of the product.
